There is normally a formal Annual Dinner in Cambridge which involves a certain amount of fun an foolishness. As formal dinners go they are an amusing mix of Formal and ridiculous. A cross-dressing theme developed in the 1980s, and has remained popular, along with various forms of caving fancy dress too. Black tie is also perfectly acceptable. A party is usually held afterwards.

Prizes are awarded for such feats as 'Driver of the year', the 'Golden boot' for the year's finest cock-up, the 'Silver slipper' for the year's best caving bullshit and the 'Big Shaft' award for the most impressive caving discovery. Other ad-hoc awards are invented to commemorate notable events during the year.
We will have cave permits and lots of rope available, but if you don't fancy caving there are plentiful options including walking, biking, [[60th Dinner Geology etc | geology/speleology]] and cake eating in Ingleton! Please let me know if you want particular permits for that week-end. If you need to rent gear we can probably arrange something with the local caving shops.

CUCC has an informal spin-off called ExCS - the Ex Cambridge Speleologists. From time to time a dinner outside Cambridge (in a caving area) is organised, usually under this banner.

*'''Are children welcome?'''

Yes, and you will be responsible for their behaviour! No official babysitting will be provided and no specially child-friendly policy will be implemented. Remember that cavers' behaviour is notoriously impervious to social conventions (i.e. nobody won't be asked to avoid swearing just because children are around).

Dalesbridge will arrange dinner (fish and chips or similar) for them for £8 (under ten years old) or £10 (over ten years old) on the saturday night in a separate room. That means that if you take kids that need supervision you might have to shuttle back and forth between the rooms, or have your dinner in the children's room instead.

After you have filled in the web form you will be notified (with a summary of your choices) and you'll be given the bank details of the 'CUCC 60 anniversary' dinner bank account with Lloyds. If, for any reason, you prefer to send a cheque by post please say so in the comment box at the end of the form and you'll be given a postal address. If you don't have a UK bank account, then get a friend to pay for you by bank transfer or cheque (and make sure you let us know the arrangements). Cash payments won't be accepted.

'''CUCC celebrated its 60th  anniversary in 2009!'''
Yep, book early and forward this email to all your mates who aren't on this list and who might want to come! Moreover if you want to help with anything or have any ideas about things that we could organise for this week-end please (please!) let us know. We have been thinking about trying to get some live music for the after dinner so we would like recommendations and contacts :)
