Expo 2016
This section of the wiki is just a tool to help get expo 2016 preparation done in a coordinated fashion. The main expo website is expo.survex.com
Once the tasks and discussions below become more concrete they should be transferred to the main Expo website so that the expo website remains up to date.
Expo Dates
This year's expo dates are (provisionally) Sat 25th June to Sat 30th July (5 weeks), but it may be extended by a week.
Things that need Attention
PLEASE NOTE, EXPO IS NOW FULL FOR THIS YEAR! (unless some people drop out). Everyone is welcome on expo - it is not just for CUCC people. We expect some ULSA and UBSS people at least. There is plenty of cave to go round, although we try to keep it below 20 people at any one time to avoid 'nowhere to kip at the bivi' syndrome.
Mission Statement
We are quite a big Expo this year, so resources will be divided between three main objectives:
(1) Deep camping in Tunnocks - continued exploration of Number of the Beast. Presumably if this is killed off, gear could be pulled up to the bottom of String Theory and deployed down one of the other going deep leads in the area, such as Clayton's Cock-up.
(2) Balcony - 7km and counting... Relatively easy access to decent leads and a lot of pitches that need dropping (maybe this will be the year it goes deep!).
(3) With the short cut found last year, we were going to go back into 161, as it uses less gear than 107 and is relatively easy caving to get to the good leads at the far end. However, given Joe et al. are planning to rig 107, attacking this from both ends might be a waste of gear?
Additional surface prospecting, and checking the feasibility of setting up a secondary bivy near Organhoehle would be useful things to do that don't require much gear.
Communication
Discussion happens on the Expo Mailing List. You need to be on here if you are thinking of coming.
Chat: The Expo IRC Channel is #expo on irc.freenode.net. Use any IRC client or Web access
