*'''Are children welcome?'''

Yes, and you will be responsible for their behaviour! No official babysitting will be provided and no specially child-friendly policy will be implemented. Remember that cavers' behaviour is notoriously impervious to social conventions (i.e. nobody will be asked to avoid swearing just because children are around).

Dalesbridge will arrange dinner (fish and chips or similar) for them for £8 (under ten years old) or £10 (over ten years old) on the saturday night in a separate room. That means that if you take kids that need supervision you might have to shuttle back and forth between the rooms, or have your dinner in the children's room instead.

CUCC is 60 in 2009: Come to Yorkshire on 18-20 September to help us celebrate!

  • Where and when

The 60th anniversary dinner weekend to be held at the Dalesbridge centre (www.dalesbridge.co.uk) in the Yokshire Dales on the week-end 18-20 of September 2009.

  • What's the plan?

We will have cave permits and lots of rope available, but if you don't fancy caving there are plentiful options including walking, biking, geology/speleology and cake eating in Ingleton! Please let me know if you want particular permits for that week-end. If you need to rent gear we can probably arrange something with the local caving shops.

  • Accomodation

Dalesbridge offers:

-Camping (for up to 100 tents, £4 per head),
-Bunkrooms (40 spaces, £13 per head)
-B&B rooms (14 beds, ~£30 per head)

CUCC has pre booked all the bunk rooms and B&B rooms and we hope to take up all the campsite. Your room/bed booking will go through the club. You can book a tent pitch through the club as well. If you decide to book your own tent place you'll have to pay extra £2 per tent per night. Accommodation will be assigned on a first come first served basis. If you decide to stay in the bunk rooms you'll have use of a kitchen. Otherwise Dalesbridge can serve fry up for £5 per day per head.

  • Saturday Night Dinner

There will be a dinner at the Dalesbridge on the Saturday night, to be accompanied by slides shows, tall tales, silly games and copious rivers of flowing ale (from a local brewery).

  • Starter Options
-Stilton & Broccoli Soup with Croutons
-Hot Croque Monsieur with Salad Garnish (deep-fried Ham, Cheese & Mustard Parcels)
  • Main Course Options (they will both be accompanied by Roast Potatoes & Extra Mushrooms, Cauliflower Cheese, Carrots & Peas)
-Braised Steak Chasseur
-Vegetable Pancakes with Cream Cheese & Garlic Sauce
  • Desserts Option
-Chocolate Torte
-Strawberries & Cream
  • Cheeseboard & Biscuits
  • Tea or Coffee with Mints

The cost of the dinner itself is £19.50, but you will be charged £21 for it. The extra £1.50 will cover printing of menus, pictures etc.

  • How to book

Go this page Dinner booking form and fill in the web form. The form will ask you if you want accommodation and what kind you want, which options for the dinner courses you want and whether you want Dalesbridge breakfast(s) or not.

After you have filled in the web form you will be notified (with a summary of your choices) and you'll be given the bank details of the 'CUCC 60 anniversary' dinner bank account with Lloyds. You will be able to make a bank transfer: as soon as this is received your booking will be confirmed by a further email. If, for any reason, you prefer to send a cheque by post please say so in the comment box at the end of the form and you'll be given a postal address. If you don't have a UK bank account, then get a friend to pay for you by bank transfer or cheque (and make sure you let us know the arrangements). Cash payments won't be accepted.

Your reservation will only be made when we get your cheque or online bank transfer

  • Can children come?

Yes, but you will be responsible for their behaviour!

  • Can you help?

Yep, book early and forward this email to all your mates who aren't on this list and who might want to come! Moreover if you want to help with anything or have any ideas about things that we could organise for this week-end please (please!) let us know. We have been thinking about trying to get some live music for the after dinner so we would like recommendations and contacts :)
