What we currently have

At the tackle store clearout (18th May) we counted:

• 1 good tape (there are 3 good tapes and 13 old tapes on the 'left at basecamp' list)
• 4 compass with working lights
• 2 clinos with working lights
• 1 compass with broken light
• 3 clinos with broken lights
• 1 pony
• 1 working pencil

There was also a daren drum with what looked like taken apart survey instruments/batteries in...

Wookey is going to put new batteries in the instruments so that the lights work Kathryn 17:45, 27 June 2008 (BST)

One silva clino has been retired (2008-07-11) due to loss of liquid.

Ponies

I've contacted Phil, asking for a new Pony for CUCC. He's kindly offered to lend us one if he can't make a new one in time. Ollie s

Distos

Do we want more distos? - the club currently only has one, and they are very useful. Ollie s

I've ordered (2008-07-11) one Leica D2 for the club (More expensive than the Bosch but more waterproff, small,lighter, with backlight, probably easier to interface to a SAP). Uses 2xAA batts.

Paper & pencils

I expect we need to buy several more pads of waterproof paper- I think we were running out last year. I googled "waterproof paper caving" and was excited to find that both CUCC and Wookey are mentioned in the first result- [1]. I guess we should call 01473 890285 and order a few Waterbooks then.

We don't need to use waterproof paper most of the time though - how much dry paper (which is much cheaper) do we have? [Becka]

Ordered (2008-07-11) 3 x chartwell waterproof red plastic notebooks (quadrille-marked) 2 x 2647 chartwell rag paper miners transit books (ruled one side, graph the other)

Survey tapes

The stuff in austria list says we have 16 tape measures at base camp, of which 3 are in good condition. Let's buy a few more! -Aaron 08:27, 21 May 2008 (BST)

I can probably get 30m Tajima open-reel fibre tape measures (they're good!) for about 6 or 7 quid in Chongqing (I need to check the current price). My mum's coming to visit soon and I could send some back to the UK with her. Duncan Collis 13:27, 30 May 2008 (BST)

There is one (screwfix open reel) in James Hickson's garage

Are we sure these are open-reel, have ends, and are readable? I thought the tape situation was non-ideal at the end of last expo, but I could be misremembering. -Aaron 15:29, 30 June 2008 (BST)

With 3 laser-tapes, 1 screwfix tape (above) and 3 'good condition' tapes I reckon that's enough.

Nail Polish

The left in Austria list says we have 28 pots - anyone have any idea whether this is 28 pots of useless brown nail polish that noone wanted, or useful coloured nail polish? How many pots do we normally get through per expo? Kathryn 23:36, 7 July 2008 (BST)

They were what we considered useful colours only (we took home the creams and browns to re-freecycle). They aren't all red, but we've found the bluey/green type colours are great too, because they aren't very "natural" looking I guess. JennyB 01:07, 14 July 2008 (BST)

Idealy you want 2 per team, so that means at least 10 are needed. Someone should probably weed out the crap-colour ones and bring them back/throw them away.[Wookey]
